Sarah Webster, ACSW-LMSW-AP
Ms. Webster is a ChildTrauma Fellow and an independent Child Welfare
Consultant. She spent almost 27 years in public child
welfare work in the state of Texas before her retirement in
August 2002.
Ms. Webster grew up in Smithfield,
Kentucky a rural community about 40 miles from Louisville.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from
Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky in 1971. She
received her Master of Social degree from Our Lady of the
Lake University in San Antonio, Texas in 1985.
Ms. Webster has worked in child welfare
as a caseworker, supervisor and numerous administrative
capacities. She served as a Regional Director in both the
southern region of Texas as well as the Houston region. At
the time for her retirement she had just completed almost 5
years as the state director of Child Protective Services.
She has experience working in extremely rural areas as well
as very urban areas and with especially diversified
populations. She has worked with numerous boards and
political officials including Texas legislators. She has
testified before legislative committees on issues relating
to child welfare.
Ms. Webster is known for her interest
in promoting good practice in the field and seeking to
implement sound practice models. She is also known for her
administrative leadership and was awarded the 2002 Award for
Excellence in Public Child Welfare Administration from the
National Association of Public Child Welfare
Administrators.
